While many Spanish wine brands have struggled in the UK market, Félix Solís has taken a different trajectory. Against a backdrop of declining category volumes—down -4.4% according to OEMV figures 1. —the company has strengthened its foothold with double-digit growth across key brands. From category-defining Rioja to a rapidly expanding Chilean investment, the producer continues to rewrite expectations.
Amid shifting consumer habits, one brand stands out as the most dynamic player in Spanish wine: Mucho Más. Reporting 85.3% volume growth (Nielsen MAT 28/12/24 2.), it is now the fastest-growing brand among the UK’s top 10 Spanish wines. Its success is no accident—Mucho Más delivers an accessible, fruit-forward style that resonates with modern wine drinkers. Now, Félix Solís is extending the range. A new Merlot variant debuts at the fair, designed to capitalise on Mucho Más’ winning formula while expanding the brand’s reach. Meanwhile, The Guv’nor, another standout performer in the UK off-trade, is also launching a Merlot expression, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for bold, fruit-driven wines with broad consumer appeal.
Innovation remains central to Félix Solís’ strategy, with new releases carefully developed to align with emerging trends. A prime example is OG (Original Garnacha), a new meme-derived brand tapping into the growing demand for jammy, fruit-forward reds among Millennial consumers. The concept reflects both a shift in how younger audiences engage with wine and the importance of storytelling in brand-building.
Further expanding its white wine portfolio, Félix Solís is unveiling its first Godello, whose stone-fruit-driven and aromatic citrus character showcases the potential of this increasingly popular Spanish varietal. From further afield, a New Zealand Pinot Noir joins the company’s Southern Ocean range. Produced in Marlborough, it complements the existing Southern Ocean Sauvignon Blanc, which won Gold at the International Wine Challenge 2024. The addition of a premium New Zealand red strengthens Félix Solís’ offering in the growing premium tier, particularly for UK consumers seeking varietal clarity and regional typicity.
As its New Zealand offerings illustrate, Félix Solís’ ambitions extend much further than Spain. The company’s €30 million investment in Viña Casa Solís, its state-of-the-art Chilean winery in Cachapoal, is already reshaping expectations. According to Wines of Chile’s 2024 data 3., Viña Casa Solís is now the fourth fastest-growing Chilean producer and ranks as the 19th largest exporter by volume. At the fair, its latest valley-specific Reserva releases will take centre stage—crafted specifically for international markets, they offer precision, freshness, and structure that align seamlessly with evolving UK consumer preferences
.
Félix Solís’ ongoing success in the UK is underpinned by a clear strategy: delivering wines that bridge the gap between quality, accessibility, and commercial performance. With a portfolio that now represents 14 of the UK’s Top 50 Spanish wine brands, the company continues to refine its approach, ensuring relevance across both multiple and impulse retail.
"Consumer expectations are evolving, and success in today’s market requires more than just heritage—it demands innovation," says UK Managing Director Richard Cochrane. "Whether it’s the runaway success of Mucho Más, the strategic expansion of The Guv’nor, or bold new launches like OG, we are committed to shaping the future of these key categories in the UK. Our investment in Chile and exploration of emerging varietals like Godello further demonstrate our ability to stay ahead of the curve."
For those looking to understand the next phase of Spanish and Chilean wine in the UK, Félix Solís’ latest developments offer a compelling glimpse into what lies ahead.
