LIWF and Distil organiser, Brintex, has announced that Hal Wilson, managing director of Cambridge Wine Merchants, has joined the London International Wine Fair (LIWF) and Distil Advisory Board.

Hal set up Cambridge Wine Merchants with Brett Turner in 1993 at the age of 25, and now, after over 18 years, operates retail, wholesale, corporate, fine wine and franchise divisions, employing 40 people.  Hal acts as the head buyer for the award-winning business, specialising in Bordeaux and en primeur sales but also sourcing wine from elsewhere in Europe and the New World.

Hal commented on his appointment to the LIWF advisory board: "Joining the LIWF Advisory Board, and being the first member from the UK Independent trade, is a real honour.  I have been visiting the London International Wine Fair for fifteen years and it's been fascinating to see it grow and develop over time.  Now I will have the opportunity to represent independent wine merchants on the board and contribute to the Fair's success in the future."

James Murray, LIWF and Distil Event Manager added: "We are delighted to welcome Hal to the advisory board.  The independent sector is very important to us and a major focus of our attention for 2012, so the assistance of such an experienced individual such as Hal has been invaluable."
