India Returns to LIWF

India will be returning to the LIWF with a generic pavilion this year, having last exhibited in 2011. The Indian government body – APEDA – confirmed its presence yesterday, and will showcase wines from four wineries: Mercury Wines; Krsma Estates; Fratelli Wines; and Luca Wines.

LIWF Announce Plans for 2014

A new direction for the London International Wine Fair has been announced for 2014. The changes are a result of several months lobbying the UK wine industry – including current and past exhibitors – to establish their requirements for a national show. The changes will see the show go back to its roots as the “London Wine Fair”, the national wine event for the world’s leading import market; essentially, Britain’s festival of wine.

UGC To Host 2010 Vintage Tasting at LIWF

The Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, which counts many of the most distinguished Bordeaux châteaux amongst its members, is returning to the London International Wine Fair for the third year with the highly acclaimed 2010 vintage, on Tuesday 21 May.

LIWF launches MyWineFair

The LIWF has launched a new initiative for 2013, MyWineFair, which provides tailored programmes, connecting visitors with exhibitors at the LIWF, based around an online database of wines to be exhibited. An evolution of “The List” which was launched in 2008, MyWineFair is an online tool whereby visitors search for wines by various criteria (including producer, variety, price point, country) in advance of the Fair in order to create a usable, personalised list. Improved functionality sees MyWineFair incorporated in the new LIWF app, allowing visitors to search the wine library, see which Masterclasses and Industry Briefings are being held and to fully tailor their visit to the LIWF.

China to exhibit for first time at LIWF

China to exhibit wine for the first time at LIWF 2013 Chinese wine will be represented at this year’s London International Wine Fair for the first time. Château Hansen was established by the Han family in the 1980s and winemaking has been overseen by French winemaker, Bruno Paumard since 2010. Bruno Paumard, who was previously at Saumur-based Bouvet-Ladubay, will be presenting the wines at the LIWF in May.

Brintex Announces Plans for 2013

Brintex, the organiser of the London International Wine Fair, has announced a series of new initiatives for 2013 to reinvigorate the show and with a focus on UK businesses. A key goal is to ensure the Fair becomes a 'must attend' event for the core UK domestic visitor sectors, namely: the on-trade; independent retailer; wholesaler; multiple buyer and key influencer, and that visiting the show is directly beneficial to their business.

LIWF Moves to Monday

Brintex, organiser of the LIWF and Distil, has announced that the 2013 show will now take place from 20th to 22nd May, incorporating Monday for the first time. The ExCeL-based show will run across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, instead of Tuesday to Thursday as a result of extensive research and feedback from both visitors and exhibitors over the summer.

Saturday Kitchen to film at LIWF

Peter Richards MW will be selecting his wines for next week’s Saturday Kitchen at the LIWF, for the first time. Filming of the popular food and drink programme, which has an audience of around two million, is set to take place at The Fair next Wednesday. Peter is remaining tight-lipped about his final selection, but has been tasked with finding matches for José Pizarro’s deep fried chicken wings ‘al ajillo’ and Kenny Atkinson’s soused mackerel.

Beaujolais at the LIWF

The “Stand by Beaujolais” at this year’s London International Wine Fair showcases wines from all twelve Beaujolais appellations including Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages and the ten Crus. It presents an opportunity to taste high-quality and versatile Beaujolais wines and meet some of the most talented and innovative producers who make them.

Fast Track to France 2012

The Fast-Track to France stand, located at the heart of the French Zone, will feature a selection of award-winning French wines from LIWF exhibitors. This self-service tasting area is designed as a qualitative shortcut for visitors keen to get an overview of the French offering at the Fair.

New LIWF APP Launched

LIWF launches App and builds online presence with The Access Zone The London International Wine Fair App will go live today (4th May 2012). Designed to allow visitors to create their own unique agenda for the LIWF, the App will enhance the experience of visiting before during and after the show. The fully interactive App has been designed for use on iPhones, Blackberries and Android devices and is free to download.

China to exhibit at LIWF

Brintex, organiser of the LIWF and Distil, has announced that China will exhibit for the first time this year. A contingent of six producers from Sichuan Province will be exhibiting on a pavilion hosted by the Sichuan World Trade Centre within Distil. Producers include: Wu Liang Ye Group; Langjiu Group; Luzhou Laojiao Co; Sichuan TuoPai SheDe Group, Sichuan Swellfun Co and Sichuan Jian Nan Chun Group. Products will focus on premium spirits, many of which have never been exported to the UK.

Tesco to Exhibit at LIWF

In a first for a multiple retailer, Tesco has announced it will be taking a stand at this year’s London International Wine Fair (LIWF). Tesco is aware that due to time pressures, suppliers and producers often find it hard to secure meetings with multiple retailers and want to use LIWF as an opportunity to break down these barriers and ensure open discussions are available to everyone.

UGC Returns to LIWF

LIWF to host Sommelier of the Year
